Assam D.El.Ed Admission 2026: Students aspiring to build a career in the teaching profession have received an important opportunity from the State Government of Assam. The State Council of Educational Research and Training has officially released the Assam D.El.Ed Admission 2026 notification for admission into the 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) course for the academic session 2026–2028.

Admission into the D.El.Ed programme will be conducted through the Pre-Entry Test (PET) 2026. Candidates who qualify in the entrance examination will be eligible for admission into NCTE-recognized Teacher Education Institutes (TEIs), including DIETs, CTEs, Normal Schools, BTC institutions and Private Teacher Education Institutes across Assam.

For students who wish to become Primary School Teachers in the future, this course serves as one of the most important teacher training programmes in the state. Interested candidates can submit their online applications from 21st May 2026 to 10th June 2026 through the official SCERT PET portal.

What is Assam D.El.Ed Course?

The Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) is a professional teacher training programme designed for candidates who want to teach at the elementary and primary school level. The course focuses on child psychology, teaching methodology, classroom management, language learning, mathematics education, environmental studies, educational technology and teaching practices.

After successfully completing the two-year course, candidates become eligible for various teaching opportunities and can further appear for Teacher Eligibility Tests (TET) and other teaching-related recruitment examinations.

Assam D.El.Ed Admission 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Before submitting the online application form, candidates must ensure that they satisfy all eligibility requirements prescribed by SCERT Assam.

Permanent Residency

Only permanent residents of Assam are eligible to apply for admission into the D.El.Ed course.

Candidates may be required to produce valid residential proof during admission and document verification.

Educational Qualification

Applicants must have passed Higher Secondary (HS) Examination or an equivalent qualification from a recognized Board or Council.

Candidates must secure at least 50% aggregate marks excluding marks obtained in extra, optional or fourth subjects.

Relaxation in qualifying marks is available for reserved category candidates as per government norms.

Candidates qualifying the entrance examination will also be considered for admission in Teacher Education Institutes located within the selected district, subject to seat availability and merit position.
