NVS Class 6 Admission: The Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) has started the online application process for admission to Class 6 for the academic session 2026–2027. Parents or guardians interested in securing a seat for their child in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) can now apply online until 29th July 2025. The application process began on 30th May 2025.
Interested candidates must visit the official website navodaya.gov.in to fill out the application form. Please note that the application is completely free of cost and will be accepted only through online mode.
NVS Class 6 Admission Online Application Process
NVS has officially announced the Class 6 admission process for the 2026–2027 academic year. Students aspiring to take admission in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya can submit their online applications by visiting the official website on or before 29th July 2025. The application window started from 30th May 2025, and no fee is charged for the application
Eligibility Criteria and Required Documents
To be eligible for admission, the student’s date of birth must fall between 1st May 2014 and 31st July 2016. Additionally, the student must be currently studying in Class 5 in a recognised school.During the application process, the following documents must be uploaded as scanned copies:
- Aadhar Card
- Residence Certificate
- Passport-size Photograph
- Class 5 Marksheet
- Caste Certificate (if applicable)
Make sure all documents are valid and updated at the time of application.
NVS Class 6 Admission Entrance Exam
The entrance examination for admission to Class 6 in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) for the academic year 2026–2027 will be conducted in two distinct phases to accommodate students across various regions and ensure smooth conduct of the selection process.
Phase 1 of the exam is scheduled for 13th December 2025, while Phase 2 will be held on 11th April 2026. The candidates will be allotted their exam phase based on their state or region as per the schedule released by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS). It is compulsory for all candidates to complete the online application process in order to be eligible to appear for the entrance exam.
No candidate will be allowed to sit for the test without a valid admit card, which will be issued only after successful submission of the application. The selection of students will be entirely merit-based, determined by their performance in the entrance test. This exam evaluates a child’s mental ability, arithmetic skills, and language proficiency to identify academically talented students, especially from rural and underprivileged backgrounds.
Free Education Along with Hostel and Meals
Selected students will be provided with free education, boarding, meals, and other academic facilities at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas. The initiative is aimed at providing quality education to talented students from rural and underprivileged backgrounds.
Reservation Policy and Seat Distribution
As per the NVS reservation policy, 75% of the seats are reserved for students from rural areas, while the remaining 25% are allocated to students from urban areas. In addition to this rural-urban distribution, further reservations are provided for students belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and other reserved categories, in accordance with the norms laid down by the Government of India. This comprehensive reservation system is designed to ensure equal educational opportunities for students from all sections of society

For parents who wish to provide the best educational environment to their children, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas are an excellent choice. The last date to apply is 29th July 2025 – no applications will be accepted after this deadline.
