Salary Structure of

Selected candidates will be placed under JMGS-I (Junior Management Grade Scale I) and receive a starting basic pay of ₹48,480. The full pay scale is structured as:
₹48,480 – 2000(7) – 62,480 – 2340(2) – 67,160 – 2680(7) – 85,920

Besides the basic pay, officers will also be entitled to several allowances including Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), and other benefits depending on the posting location.

Eligibility Criteria for IBPS PO Recruitment

Age Limit (as on 1st July 2025):

Applicants must be at least 20 years old and not more than 30 years. Only those born between 2nd July 1995 and 1st July 2005 (inclusive) are eligible.

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
  • Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years

Educational Qualification:

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university. The qualification must be obtained on or before the date of registration. Final year students awaiting results are not eligible.

Interview & Final Selection

Candidates who clear the mains exam will be called for a personal interview, carrying 20% weightage in the final selection. The interview is usually held at designated centers in major cities and evaluates the candidate’s communication skills, banking awareness, and confidence.

The final merit list is prepared by combining marks of Mains (80%) and Interview (20%).

Career Growth & Promotions

Once selected, a PO can climb the banking ladder through regular internal exams and seniority. Common career path:

  • Assistant Manager (Scale I)
  • Manager (Scale II)
  • Senior Manager (Scale III)
  • Chief Manager (Scale IV)
  • Assistant General Manager (Scale V)
  • Deputy General Manager and above

Many POs eventually reach the top positions such as Zonal Manager, Executive Director, or even Chairman of the bank.
